Goals and the lack of motivation they bring…

Posted by Tiddyn on November 24, 2009

Sometimes I feel like I’m sabotaging myself…

Here’s how the story starts; a couple of weeks ago I found myself with lack of a goal, or rather, I didn’t like the current goal I had set (85 slayer and 75 runecrafting), so what else to do, but set a new goal? Fine, that was quickly done, since there was only 1 skill left in my list of favorites, which is Agility. What I hated with agility was the scenery, I’ve seen enough of Ape Atoll to consider setting the island on fire, so I had to find a different course. 81 only gave me the option of Dorgesh-Kaan, though it might have been a good idea, it didn’t seem as much when I thought of it. Another course then? I couldn’t access the Gnome Advanced Course yet, or atleast, not legally. I’d have to find some way to get there without the gnomes stopping me, and the it hit me like a clown… Pie! Gnomes have always been suckers for pie, I mean, who isn’t?

So I geared up, Bomberjack, Cap and Goggles, Gnome Scarf, Ava’s Accumulator (it still looks slightly like a parachute, though I wouldn’t trust it with my life) and for the pants a pair of Mourner’s Trousers. So in the fashion sense, I was all ready to lock and load. All I needed now was pies, so every 3 laps I had to gave a bit of pie to the gnomes and eat a slice myself too, for courage, you have no idea how scary those trees are in the Gnome Stronghold.
Many laps later and many pies heavier, I was looking at my pair of Agile Legs :o They truly are pretty agile, except I can’t understand the Knee Pads, though they might protect your knees a little from slamming into a brick wall, it doesn’t improve the fact that it has to strain your knees a little, so it should make you less agile. Anyway, that’s probably just me, so if anyone has a better solution, please tell me.

*fast forward till 86 agility*

So now I’ve had 86 agility, the Gnome Advanced Course began to be slightly if not highly repetitive, and with a new dose of pie I could also charm that Barbaric fella, so with a new goal in mind, I began on another journey. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that this course comes with it’s downsides, in particular the balance beam, which is no place for a man, ask any male gymnast (or just any man). But with alot of effort and painkillers I managed to haul in that Agile Top, which makes the set complete (except for Penance Gloves, but that’s a different set altogether).

So now I’m level 87, with a slight distaste for agility (went back to Gnome, couldn’t stand the pain) and I need a while to go till I ever reach level 90. It might not be the easiest skill to reach 90 in, and definatly not as a first 90 skill (EVER!) but I’ll manage to pull myself trough, I hope.

Till next time :)

Here Fishy Fishy Fishy…

Posted by Tiddyn on October 29, 2009

I remember why I didn’t like Fishing that much. It’s just plain boring. You click, you attempt to catch a few fishies, the fishing spot moves and you have to click again. I guess it could be worse, just watch some television while your eyes glance at your computer screen every 30 seconds or so. But it’s just not a skill I like. I rather have a skill where a little more work is involved, like RuneCrafting, Agility and Slayer. Slayer might not be the best example, but atleast you need to stay focused while doing it.
Another advantage to fishing is that I can actually raise a pet for once. I never really bothered to do so, but now with 70 summoning I decided to get that Saradomin Owl, which is a Hoot at parties. :D It’s at it’s second stage now (the Bird) and it’s growing rather fast :) 63% already.

In other words, I’ve finished the Halloween event on 3 accounts already :p Fram Roper, Skillyn and Tiddyn (in that order) and I begin to love Eek more and more, though he still scares the hell out of me in real life. But that fact that he talks and has a weird sense of humour is rather entertaining ;) Much more than dancing infront of an under-fed Dog.

I think that’ll be all for now. Oh and playing RuneScape on your TV monitor isn’t good for you. The screen is just too big. And if I’m too far away, I can’t read the text anymore :p

Busy Week

Posted by Tiddyn on October 28, 2009

Since I pretty much make a failure out of myself when setting a skillgoal, I’ve decided to twist the plot a little bit. I wouldn’t just be heading for 75 runecrafting, no, I’d aim for the finishing of almost all achievement diaries. Before I started I had only finished the Karamja Diary (I could really use the gloves for my Duradel Slayer tasks :D ) and after that the Lumbridge Diary, since it was just too easy to not do. And I did manage to do Varrock upto the Medium tasks, since I lacked certain requirements for the Hard part.

But those were ages ago, we now live in the present (or I’d like to beleive that at least). Looking over the Diaries that were left, I’d browsed through the requirements… I had all requirements already for the Falador and Fremennik Diary. So up up and away, I went. They both took me several hours to do, mainly because nothing was plannned upfront, but still, I like the rewards :) A full prayer refill every day and finally teleports on my lyre. I would be lying if I told you I wasn’t too lazy to recharge the silly thing.

So now I’ve got my mind set on the Seers’ Village Achievement Diary, not because I like the hat thingymabob, but just because I can almost do it. I just need 9 more fishing levels (69-78), 5 more fletching levels (75-80) and finally 7 more firemaking levels (68-75).
All a bunch of skills that can be trained without too much annoyance, so that’s what my current week is looking like.

And if that diary is done, I might start on Ardougne or finish with Varrock first, not sure yet. The Farming level is the hardest part in Varrock :(

It’s been too long

Posted by Tiddyn on October 25, 2009

My apologies for keeping you waiting all this time, but my time in RuneScape actually took over the time for writing a blog. But now I’ll attempt to write one on a more regular basis (once or twice a week :) )

So, life has been busy for me in RuneScape… I’ve been really busy with Slayer. Killing beasts with a flick of my whip and that means I’ve got 82 slayer now. Ofcourse, since all things come in threes, that means I’ve also got 89 defence and 84 ranged. So combat wise, I’m a very happy man :D . Luckily I’m not finished here, since slayer is best served with a dish of summoning on the side, I’ve been busy to train it to level 68, where the elusive Bunyip’s come into play. Eventually that proved to be an easy task, since a few hours later I’ve risen from level 61 to 68. Now I switched to more varried ways of training summoning, by the means of hunting down penguins once a week. :) Luckily I have my friends there on a saturday night, so we become quite the hunting party, right Rose?

Somehow it seems that all the levels I’ve got and are worth mentioning have something to do with slayer in a way. We’ll, that’s true, it is my favorite skill, altough I’m taking a slight break for now, which I’ll explain later on. So the next level in the list can be described as 81 agility. Now you might wonder, where does this translate into Slayer? We’ll, my friend, it’s the latest shortcut used for slayer tasks (the Relleka Slayer Cave’s Chasm Jump) so that was another one down and another down, another one bites the dust…

Now comes the sad part, I was the one that bit the dust :( . A few days ago, I’ve went over to a friends house to play some RuneScape and just have fun. It resulted in me going for a firecape. All went fine and well, untill Jad arrived, according to him, he got faster and therefore Jad suprised me with a 1 hit K.O. Goodbye Fire Cape attempt :( And since it took roughly 2 hours to do, it killed the mood I was in for killing things. So Slayer has been put on hold since wednesday.

With Slayer on hold, I’d have to find a new skill to do, since Agility isn’t really a money-making skill and I still want to earn the money for a Saradomin GodSword, I decided to pick the RuneCrafting skill. It’s still at level 70, but my current aim is to reach level 75 (Giant Pouch). I needed a good 52K nature runes in order to get there, and with the calculations I’ve made…
1 small pouch = 3 essence
1 medium pouch = 6 essence
1 large pouch =9 essence
1 Abyssal Parasite = 7 essence
25 inventory spaces = 25 essence
____________________________+

1 RuneCrafting Run = 50 Essence = 50 Nature Runes

An Abyssal Parasite lasts 30 minutes, which means I can do 20 runs exactly before it disappears, which in term is good for 1K nature runes every 30 minutes.
30 minutes is a nice time to stay focussed, longer would leave more error for mistakes and shorter, we’ll that just wouldn’t be an option. Since I’ve only crafted 3K nature runes since then, I’d still have 49 half hours of  work left or rather  24.5 hours. So with this I say farewell.

The RuneCrafting Goal…

Posted by Tiddyn on September 16, 2009

75 RC Log

As I’ve mentioned before, this month’s Inter-Clan Skill Competition revolves around Thieving and RuneCrafting. Because I’d never dared to take another man’s possesions, it was time for me to get some RuneCrafting levels. Before the competition took off I’ve already managed to get 68 RC, so atleast I was able to craft my favourite kind of Rune; the Nature Rune. The rune is just great, it offers a decent bit of experience, cash and I got to enjoy the scenery while I spend the few seconds at the altar.

I’ve did some research when I started to RuneCraft, apparently I needed a whole 5K nature runes in order for me to gain just a measly level, I’d even need 9000 more for the next one. So my quest began. The bank… What did I need? Pouches? YES! What else? Pickaxe? Could work. Essence? Definatly. And ofcourse the trustworthy Amulet of Glory(4). And off I went, after a few runes my hitpoints were halved, but my run energy was restored to 100% as I finished banking. So I had to change my tactic. I needed some armor, black dragonhide perhaps? It’s lightweight, it blocks mage attacks (Revenants) and can handle a few melee attacks aswel. This really sped up the process, everything was running smoothly, the only problem was that I crafted 43 nature runes each run. Which in term gave me (43*9) 387 experience points for roughly two minutes of running.

My next idea was to go to the ZMI Altar. BAD IDEA! For me atleast, I only got random runes, probably just enough to cover my costs and I got like 15% more xp per run (I did use less essence) This wasn’t the method for me, I wanted good experience and good cash. So it was back to the drawingboard. In the meantime I went back to Abyssal RuneCrafting as it still was pretty decent and as of today I noticed something about the people around me. Alot of them used Familiars! And not just any familiar, the Abyssal Parasite :o And it was even within my levelrange. So I ventured to the Grand Exchange, bought like 5 of the buggers and off I went. It gave me access to an additional 7 nature runes each run if I didn’t forget to unload my Beast of Burden, but it’s definatly worth it.

So now I’m busy with crafting the last runes in order for me to reach 70 runecrafting, just 5000 nature runes away or 100 abyss runs :) So if you’d like to spot me, you can in world 121 ;)

Oh and in other news, saturday is my VineSweeper event! :o Check the forums if you haven’t already.

Tears of Guthix event…

Posted by Tiddyn on September 13, 2009

It’s sunday again and that means it’s time for Vita Infinitus’ Tears of Guthix Event… The start of the event was when Ceejay went in and requested extreme silence, so that the concentration would be maximum. After a while in the caves I couldn’t control myself and let out a loud ‘Go Ceejay!’ which apparently didn’t matter that much :D A whopping 100 tears was the result and 57 hunter, a big congratulations for Ceejay on this. Next up was a bit of a quiet time, where we (Rose and me) were stalked by some guy named Claudough. Claudough.1

Claudough.2

I wonder if he thought we were weird… A little while later Weasly appeared, I’m not sure if I’ve seen him before, but not long after that our big hero Alys appeared! Yay for Alys! :D She managed to get 180 tears, that’s like great. It’s the maximum score with darts, so WOOT! :D Another familiar name like Private Wesg was there, but other than that, I couldn’t think of who it was. Atleast happy you were there :)

We even drew some attention towards ourselves… The last part was the visit of 666Devil which didn’t do bad either :o 128 tears.. I’m kind of jealous. Now only I’m stuck with 0 tears, because I couldn’t enter (yet) Oh well, it’ll come later tonight.

Get-A-Long and Penguin Hunting

Posted by Tiddyn on September 13, 2009

Skillyn: Friday Night it was time for the Friday Night Get-A-Long, there where no details released, so it immediatly picked my interest. The host, the ever friendly Markie, made all events up as we went and it was quite a fun experience, we first started with some firemaking in Falador and accidently burning a few things down. Smokie the Bear wouldn’t mind. We didn’t burn any additional trees down. Next came a trip to Barbarian Village were it was explained that we had to buy 25 beers and bring it back to him. Ofcourse I didn’t expect to win so I did some quick research and decided to atleast deliver all types of Freeplay beers (Wizard Mind Bomb, Asgarnian Ale, Dwaven Stout and the basic Beer) Apparently I was the only one who did that and still managed to finish second. GO ME! :D After that it was time for a Beer Chugging contest, not exactly the best for your health, but fun nonetheless. :) Since there was only one sober person left at the party, our own Mark, he became the designated tourguide and lead us towards the end of the event. He almost tried to lure me (to a level 6 mugger!)… Evil Player Mod. The last part of the event was a Cow-Tipping event, we had to kill the cows with our bare hands and collect 10 cow hides and 10 raw beef. Since I’m more of a lover than a fighter, I’ve decided to collect some remains and cheer on the others.

Fram Roper: Yesterday I did my first attempt at Penguin Hunting, it was the event set for the evening, so I thought, why not. Unfortunatly I couldn’t find anyone else included in the event which ended up in me doing it all alone (with the help of World60Pengs) The idea was to find a penguin which was disguised as a bush, box, cactus and some other ridiculous outfits, write down his location in your spy book and then report back to Larry in the Ardougne Zoo. With the help from a couple of new friends it was kind of easy to pinpoint and even trap some penguins in order to succesfully spy on them. I got lost in Mort Myre when I had to look for a Toadstool disguised a penguin, or the other way around, and did have to deal with a large population of ghast. Luckily they know I’m far superior. After Mort Myre I still had some other secluded locations left to check, like the Desert where it was hiddenly in almost the most South-Eastern corner of the map. I didn’t know Penguin Hunting could be this dangerous. So after a week without anything to drink in the desert I finally managed to find it. Another one down. The last one left on my list was the Penguin hiding in the Elf Lands, so instead of looking straight away for the penguin I took my time to admire the scenery and discover some traps set out on the way. Another point for me, still none for the penguins.

After I tackled the last penguin it was time to go to Loopy Larry or just Larry to you and collect my reward, a healty reward of 22.5K summoning experience which resulted in 61 summoning :)

The start of Fram Roper

Posted by Tiddyn on September 13, 2009

Or atleast, the start of the documentation of Fram Roper. As I’ve mentioned in the about blog already, Fram Roper was first created as a skiller. During his time as a skiller I’ve decided to purchase membership for once. Who to pick for membership…

Tiddyn was already a nice account with some good levels and thus able to get more of the membership package.

Fram Roper wasn’t a very well thought out skiller yet, he didn’t have alot of high levels, not even mediocre in most, but he did have an advantage to Tiddyn. He has level 3 combat. I’ve always wanted to try slayer so why not from the bottom up. So one of the first skills I’ve trained in members-land was slayer and with that, combat too. I’ve had some difficult tasks, but with the help of Kronian (an old friend) and Simple013, I’ve aquired some throwing knives and started my quest for eternal glory. That quest has already taken along time and now I’m at the milestone of 80 Slayer.

80 slayer is quite an accomplishment, with that I’ve also gotten 107 combat (75 attack, 75 strength, 86 defence, 83 hitpoints, 72 prayer, 61 summoning and ofcourse 82 ranged and 69 magic)

But not only slayer is a goal I’m busy tackling, also RuneCrafting and Agility are a big part of my routine. 80 agility, tackled, tied up and sent to the archives, 80 runecrafting, not so easy yet. Currently stuck at 68 RuneCrafting which means I’d still have a whopping  levels left to get. That’s why I’m busy getting an easier goal. 70 runecrafting.

There’s alot of incentive to train RuneCrafting this month, each month Vita Infinitus and a few other clans are having a Inter-Clan Skill Competition, the aim is to get as much experience in the skills selected so you can earn yourself and your clan some glory. Anyways, this month it’s RuneCrafting and Thieving. Since I’ve never been a fan of thieving and everyone is doing Pyramid Plunder anyway, there’s no glory and fun for me to gain, except for some measly levels. Therefore I’ve started on doing some Abyss Nature Crafting runs again, it might be slower than the Graakh method or so I’ve heard, but it’s working for me :) And I don’t even run out of energy so it’s quite convenient. Yay for 80 agility. So that’s what I’m doing now with some slight breaks from time to time to do events with my clan.

Welcome To My Blog

Posted by Tiddyn on September 13, 2009

Welcome to my blog of RuneScapin’ RuneScapyness. In this Blog I’ll sometime tell you about the life of Tiddyn, the King of Rhovanion, mostly you’ll hear about Fram Roper, the serious slayer and to add a bit more variety you’ll also get updates on Skillyn, the starting Skiller.

During my RS time I’m an active member of Vita Infinitus#mce_temp_url#, a clan that has brought me some wonderfull moments :) I guess my rank could be described as clan council in the role of advisor. I’m also a vivid user of mIRC, I just love how it’s an so easy to use, little demaning chat program :) What else could I say about myself…

Oh right, in Real Life, I’m a big fan of Baseball, I live in the Netherlands and I’m 18 years old and have aquired my drivers license a few months ago.

With this all said, I’m going to put my first blog to rest and soon will begin on the life of Fram Roper, he has alot to do with this months inter-clan skill competition.
